Sonar Festival in Barcelona
All you electro, techno and hip hop fans, this is your chance to experience the largest gathering in Europe! The Sónar Festival offers all kinds of electronic music with simulatneous shows by the hottest international artists.
Dubbed the fesitval of "Advanced Music and Multimedia Art," there are areas set up for film projections, art installations and - off course - dancing, DJs, dancing and more dancing.
Sónar by Day: Simultaneous
and uninterrupted concerts and DJ's at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània
de Barcelona (CCCB) and the MACBA. A meeting point for artists,
professionals and public.
Sónar by Night: Nights at SÓNAR are of a
distinctive nature, an enormous cosmopolitan celebration, similar to other
great European events but with a Mediterranean feeling, giving it a unique
festive atmosphere.
Sónar by Night has 3 locations occupied by distinguished national and
international names from the world of electronic music. Each night DJs, VDJs
and concerts from the broadest spectrum of dance music appear simultaneously
in the 4 areas. Sónar by Night occupies an area of more than 10,000 meters,
divided between covered and open-air spaces.

Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona
This fantastic electronic music festival draws music fans from all over Spain and beyond. You can expect stellar lineups year after year, as dozens of classic and up-and-coming groups jump at the chance to perform at the Parc del Fòrum.
Situated at the foot of Mont Montjuic, site of the
Olympic Games, the Poble Espanyol is a walled enclosure area, a waterclour
painting which portrayas the different peoples and cultures of spain,
represented in the form of streets and squares, monuments and buildings. An
important tourist attraction by day, becomes a nightlife area.
Mont Montjuic, the biggest urban park of Barcelona, is close to Plaça
Espanya, a very central square, with good communications with metro and
buses with the rest of the city. From Plaça Espanya to Poble Espanyol
there´s only a 5-10 minutes walk.

Every summer Barcelona puts on a spectacular performing arts festival showcasing music, dance and theater. Many events are held at Montjüic's Teatre Grec, but you can find performances all over the city. The Grec is a pillar of Barcelona culture and a great way to see some live arts while much of the city shuts down for the summer months.
The Teatre Grec of Montjuic
organises
the Barcelona Grec festival, with a huge programme of more than 40
theatre, dance and music performances. Art and literature, flamenco and
classical music, the event encompasses such a wide range of artistic and
cultural expression that there truly is something for everyone.
Many of the bigger music events take place in the Poble Espanyol, with
artists such as Brian Wilson and Bebe & Elbicho, as well as
international pop stars Joss Stone and Craig David. Other big name
highlights include Marianne Faithfull at the Teatre Grec, and the highly
acclaimed contemporary dance maestroTrisha Brown. Her 3 choreographies
are eagerly awaited after an absence from the stage of nearly 20 years.
This is one the most important events in Barcelona's cultural calendar,
and since most performances are limited to one night only you'er
stronglt advised to book your tickets well in advance.

After more than 35 years in action, the annual Barcelona Jazz Festival has become one of the most prominent in Europe. Chick Corea and Dave Brubeck were among the many participants in 2005.

Although flamenco is a largely southern Spanish art and is not usually associated with Barcelona culture, there is a surprising amount of flamenco going on here. The annual Barcelona Flamenco Festival brings together regional and national artists for performances, lectures and workshops in Cituat Vella, the "Old City."
